Conservatories - Glazing Options
The recent huge technical advances in glass coatings and sealed unit manufacture now means there is a wide range of options in this field. Self-cleaning glass, glass that keeps heat in, glass that stops heat getting in,
toughened glass, tinted glass – in addition to ever improving thermal and acoustic efficiency in double glazed sealed units - are all available to tailor your conservatory design to your specific requirements.
Much of what we will recommend to you will be determined by the location of the conservatory. On the North side of a house we would recommend solar control glass which retains heat; on the South side, glass which reflects most of the heat; on other elevations, perhaps a combination of the two which reflect the path of the sun, or the particular need of the customer.
Glass can be tinted (blue roof glass is a favourite!), or obscured or patterned.
A range of thermal performances are also available in our double glazed sealed units, from our ‘standard’ U value of 1.6W/m2/oC windows and doors, right through to Energy Rated ‘A’1.0W/m2/oC windows and doors. In addition to being thermally efficient, these products also have high acoustic efficiency, meaning your conservatory is both a warm and quiet environment.
