Frame Glazing
Due to energy conservation legislation we are only able to supply single glazed windows to properties which are Listed Buildings and have a planning permission condition requiring them to be single glazed.
Our standard double glazed units using low-emissivity (low E) glass achieve a U-value of 1.6W/m²K, and has the largest air space available at 20mm using 4mm glass both sides to make a 28mm thick unit. (If 6mm glass is required, the air space must be reduced to 16mm.) This gives excellent heat retention and very good sound insulation.
A further improvement in heat retention can be the introduction of Argon gas to the air space. Argon gas is non-toxic, sunlight stable, non-corrosive, colourless and odourless. It can improve the thermal performance of the sealed unit but up to 50%, achieving a U-value of 1.2W/m²K – saving you money summer and winter!
The very best performance in 28mm double glazed units – and which achieve an A energy conservation rating – involves using special ‘warm-edge’ spacer bars which do not conduct low temperatures around the perimeter of the unit when installed. The combination of low E glass, Argon gas and ‘warm-edge’ spacer bars achieves a U-value of 1.0W/m²K.
All glazing that requires to be toughened glass for safety reasons will carry the British Standard 6206 Kite mark. Our sealed units comply with British Standard 5713. All glazing is carried out in accordance with the British Standard 6262 Safety Code of Practice and Documents L1 and N of the Building Regulations.
