Windows and Doors - Vertical Sliding Windows- White finish uPVC – using 130mm deep profile incorporating co-extruded gaskets, clearline glazing and internal pre-tensioned spring balances for smooth an easy operation of both lower and upper sashes of the window.
- Also available in White or Cream foiled wood grain finish, and a limited range of colours.
- Internally beaded – for superior security and peace of mind.
- Reinforcing – the windows are reinforced to the fullest extent that can be technically achieved. The windows are reinforced using only aluminium; unlike galvanised or plated mild steel this avoids any potential for rust.
- Limit Stops – to prevent accidental opening beyond 100mm wide by small children, especially on upper floors. They are manually over-ridden when wider opening is required.
- Cam key locking catches – ‘Fitch latch’ style for authenticity combined with elegant strength and security.
- Tilt option – enables easy cleaning of the external pane of the double glazed window, top and bottom. Particularly useful for upstairs windows, which can be fully cleaned from indoors.
- Glazing options – this type of window uses 24mm deep double glazed units (4mm outer pane, 16mm spacer bar, 4mm inner ‘low E’ pane) giving a ‘U’ value of 1.6 W/m2/oC. Argon gas filling is an option to achieve a U value of 1.2 W/m2/oC.
- Furniture Options – locking catches and ring pulls can be supplied in either brass, chrome or white.
- Horns option – a traditional decorative element added to the bottom of the top sash to give the authentic ‘siding sash’ appearance.
- Deep bottom rail – this is another ‘authenticity’ option available
- Georgian glazing option – another authenticity option, which is explained in more detail here [link to Georgian glazing].
- Limitations regarding size of vertical sliding windows –
- ???mm wide x ???mm high minimum ???mm wide x ???mm high maximum
- Means of Escape in Case of Fire – not always a requirement of the Building Regulations, but where it is a window that has to comply as an escape window must have an opening of 450mm minimum width, 450mm minimum height and an opening area of not less than 0.33 square metres. We can supply vertical sliding windows which comply with the regulations and use a special release mechanism in an escape window to allow the bottom half of the window to provide effective and efficient escape in case of fire.
- Trickle Ventilation – not always required by the Building Regulations, but where it is, trickle ventilation has to be provided to a minimum of 4000mm2 and up to 8000mm2 in certain circumstances. We can provide colour-matched ventilators to meet these requirements, mounting them normally at the centre top of the casement or in the frame above, and can advise the area you will require.
